Don't start a sentence with "because"!
「Because」で文章を始るな!
I often see this in students' papers. It's not your fault! You are taught that "because" means なぜなら. Although that is true, it is not used the same way.
生徒の作文などによく見る問題だ。生徒のせいじゃないんだけど。教科書によると、「Because」=「なぜなら」。それはそうなんだが、使い方がちがうんだよ。
"Because" is a subordinating conjunction. Therefore, the words after it are not a sentence but a subordinate clause.
「Because」は従位接続詞なんだ。だから、後続の言葉は文章じゃなくて従節だ。
For example:
例えば:
Because I go to school.
Because I was sick.
Because I like EXILE.
These sentences have no subject and no verb.
先の文章は主語も動詞もないんだ。
When you use "because," you should be explaining something. Usually, that thing should be in the same sentence.
「Because」を使う時には、何かを説明するはずだ。一般的に、それは同じ文章にあるものべ。
For example:
例えば:
I don't have time to watch lots of TV dramas because I go to school every day.
^---------------------------------------------------------|
毎日学校へ行くんだから、テレビドラマをたくさん見るほど暇じゃない。 ~時間がない。
I didn't go to the karaoke party last week because I was sick.
^--------------------------------------------|
病気だったから、先週のカラオケパーティに行かなかったんだ。
I spent all my money from New Year's on CDs because I like EXILE.
^-------------------------------------------------------------|
EXILEが好きだから、何枚のCDでお年玉の全部使っちゃった。
Sometimes, it is OK to use "because" at the beginning of a sentence, BUT you still need a subject and a verb to make a full sentence!
時々「Because」で文章を始めることはOKだが、正しい文章になるために、主語も動詞も必要なんだ!
For example:
例えば:
Because I go to school every day, I don't have time to watch a lot of TV dramas.
^この「、」は必要だ
Because I was sick, I didn't go to the karaoke party last week.
^
Because I like EXILE, I spent all my money from new year's on CDs.
^
In very casual conversations with your friends, it is also okay to answer shortly with "because" to a question. However, it still is not a full sentence.
友達と楽に話してる時にも、早く質問を答えるために「Because」で始ればいい。でも、まだ本当の文章じゃないよ。
For example:
例えば:
A: Why didn't you come to the karaoke party last week?
B: Because I was sick.

Don't use "exciting" to talk about yourself!
自分のことについて話していたら、「Exciting」を使わないで!
"Exciting" describes things: places, events, objects, movies, books, etc. Something that is "exciting" gives someone the feeling of excitement, or "makes (someone) excited."
「Exciting」は物を説明するんだ。場所、イベント、実体、映画、本、など。「Exciting」な物はわくわくさせるものなんだ。わくわくするという感じを上げるものだ。
For example:
The live concert yesterday was so exciting!
昨日のライブはとてもわくわくしていたわ!
Watching sports is always exciting.
スポーツを見るのはいつもわくわくするよ。
Many students say in their papers that something "makes me exciting." This is a mistake. In English, we do not call ourselves "exciting." This would mean that we are making other people excited.
作文に「なになに makes me exciting!」と書く生徒が多い。これは間違いだべ。英語には、我々は自分のこと「exciting」と呼ばないんだ。それは「私は別の人にわくわくさせる者なんだ」という意味だ。
For example:
Watching One Piece makes me exciting.
OPを見るのが私を(他の人に)わくわくさせるようになせるんだ。
The correct thing to say when talking about a person's feeling of excitement is to say that I am / he is / she is / they are "excited."
人の気持ちについて話していたら、正しい単語は「excited」だよ。
For example:
Watching One Piece makes me excited.
OPを見るのが私にわくわくさせる。
I am excited for the concert this week.
今週のコンクールにわくわくしていま~す!
Words that are used the same way:

Don't use "fun" to describe yourself!
自分のことについて話していたら、「fun」を使わないで!
Just like "exciting," "fun" describes things: events, actions, live concerts, video games, etc. If you use it to describe yourself, you are bragging that other people think you are enjoyable.
「Exciting」のように、「fun」は物を説明する言葉だ。イベント、活動、ライブ、ゲーム、など。自分のことを説明するために使ったら、「他の人々は私のこと楽しいだと思うはずだ」とほらを吹いているんだ。
For example:
When I watch TV shows about idols, I am fun. X
It is fun to watch TV shows about idols. O
Playing soccer makes me fun. X
Playing soccer is fun. O
"Fun" is also a noun. Most of the time when students say "I was fun" or "it made me fun," what they mean to say is, "I had fun!"
「fun」は形容詞だけではなく、名詞の形もあるんだ。生徒が「I was fun」か「it made me fun」と書く時に、言うべきことは「I had fun!」だ。
For example:
Going skiing last weekend made me fun! X
Going skiing last weekend was fun! O
I was fun skiing last weekend! X
I had fun skiing last weekend! O
先週にスキーするのは楽しかったなぁ~!
Were you fun at the baseball game? X
Did you have fun at the baseball game? O
野球試合楽しかったか?
In these kinds of situations, "fun" can be replaced with "a good/great time."
この形では、「fun」と「a good time / a great time」は互換なもんだ。
For example:
Thank you for this weekend. It was fun! O
Thank you for this weekend. I had a great time! O
先週の週末ありがとうございます。とても楽しかったです!
Did you have fun at the baseball game? O
Did you have a good time at the baseball game? O
