JazzLouis "Satchmo" Armstrong
This beautiful and fun music style began at the beginning of the 1900's. It started with Black funeral marches in Louisiana, where mourners would play brass instruments left over from the military bands of the American Civil War. Today, jazz lives for improvisation and syncopation.
PopMJ in "Thriller"
Pop is just short for "popular" music. It isn't rock; it isn't jazz; it isn't country; it's just well-liked music we can all dance to. Michael Jackson, of course, was known as the King of Pop before it all went downhill. But there are other artists to get your feet moving.
Country & WesternThe southern part of the United States has grown up with a style of music tailored to Wild West sensibilities. Big hats, twangy accents, pickup trucks, marital strife... All of these things are classic country music material. When I listen to this music, I think of home in Texas.
Performances!I needed a section for amateur performers, too. This is it.

Rock 'n RollSlash and his Gibson Les Paul
The music of rebellion hit its stride in the 1950's and '60's with stars like Elvis and the Beatles. It is the music of the young and rebellious, wanting to seperate themselves from the established and the uptight. Guys with long hair, tight pants, fast cars, lots of drinking... everything goes with rock n roll!
Metaaaaaaa~aaaaaaaaaal! \m/,British metal sensation, Iron Maiden
Metal was made by people who looked at rock n roll and said, "More...!" Explosions, fire, dragons, robots, faster cars, longer hair... it's all metal. If you thought a 7 minute rock song was long, try the adventure of a 30 minute metal opera. There are no apologies in metal, so raise your devil horns and get ready to be ROCKED!
Band ProfilesI want to teach you a little bit about the most famous and popular bands in America and around the English-speaking world. I hope you find some you like!
